SITORO® unveiled to international applause

Southern Innovation’s groundbreaking SITORO technology was exposed to a global audience in June with an impressive reception at four international conferences. Technical Director Paul Scoullar and Managing Director David Scoullar presented the pulse processing technology – which significantly improves detector efficiency by decoding pulse pile-up – in the US, Greece, Croatia and the Czech Republic.

The Symposium on Radiation Measurements and Application (SORMA West), held at the University of California Berkeley from 2-5 June, is among the pre-eminent US conferences on radiation measurement. Paul’s presentation “Optimal Digital Pulse Processing for Radiation Detection Systems” received enormous interest from the 400 academic, commercial and government delegates, including the ‘father’ of radiation measurement – the University of Michigan’s Prof Glenn Knoll.

At the Applications of Nuclear Techniques conference, held on Crete from 9-13 June, Paul discussed the application of the SITOROdigital pulse processing technology to the detection of contraband material, including weapons proliferation, ‘dirty’ radioactive material and explosives. At the European Conference on X-ray Spectrometry in Cavtat, Croatia, Paul and David discussed SITORO’s industrial applications in X-ray spectrometry. The Industrial Radiation and Radioisotope Measurement Application (IRRMA), held in Prague, Czech Republic from 23-27 June provided an opportunity to network with academics and industry advisors.

Our packed program of presentations in June really increased our international profile,’ said Paul Scoullar. Everywhere we went we were met with excitement and interest. Pulse pile-up is a significant problem across numerous industries and there’s interest from everywhere in a genuine breakthrough like ours – academics, company reps and government agencies around the world.’
